Christie's auction house and consulting company KPMG yesterday presented their vision of an alternative way money can be invested, regardless of whether you are a private or institutional investor. The forum was opened by Michael Johnston, head of private equity funds practice at KPMG. Konstantin Povstyanoy, a partner of Baring Vostok was also a speaker.
Mr. Povstyanoy presented the most traditional of the alternative ways of investing - private equity. Today Baring Vostok manages $ 3.7 billion from 55 investors, of which, according to Povstyanoy, the company is still deciding where to invest $ 1.6 billion. He stressed that these are "long money" invesments: the average horizon of owning investments is 5 -12 years.
